Subscriptions guide

Use Subscriptions one step at a time, then return to this guide whenever you need a refresher.

The instructions follow the mobile app; a label may be slightly different when your app language changes.

Add a subscription or bill

  1. Open More → Subscriptions & Bills and tap Add plan. Find a service or choose the manual entry. Select Subscription or Bill, then enter its name, plan and categories.
  2. Set the amount, currency, cycle and first due date. Subscriptions can have a trial; bills can use a variable amount. Choose where you pay, its status and reminder schedule, then scroll down and save.

Name, amount, cycle and first due date are required. For a trial, set its end date and the price after the trial.

Track and record payments

  1. Open an item to see This period, Last 6 months and its payment information. Tap Edit to choose Apple, Google, Website or Other. Website shows a management URL; Other shows where it was bought.
  2. Tap Add transaction to record a payment. Check the date, amount and currency, then save. Tap a history bar or logged period to edit or delete that period.

Check subscription opens the saved management destination when available. Recording a payment in Ember does not pay the provider.

Organize categories

  1. Open Categories in the item form to select one or more categories. Use category settings to rename a category or change its colour and icon.
  2. Tap + in category settings, choose an expense or income category, enter its name, pick a colour and icon, then save. Only custom categories have a delete action.

Income & expense categories

Income and expense categories are shared with Finance. Built-in categories cannot be deleted.

Set renewal reminders

  1. Open an item and tap its renewal reminder schedule. Turn on Use shared settings to follow the shared schedule in Finance settings.
  2. Turn off Use shared settings for a custom schedule. Choose 1, 2 or 7 days before, or the due day, set the time, review the preview and save. Choose Off to disable this custom reminder.

You can select more than one lead day. When the shared schedule is off, items following it send no reminder. Allow notifications on your device.

Import plans from photos

  1. Tap Add plan → Import from photos. Read how to open your App Store or Google Play subscriptions, take screenshots, select up to 5 images and start recognition.
  2. Plans with clear details are added automatically. Check the saved cards and complete missing names, prices, cycles or dates. For each possible duplicate, choose Skip or Add and keep existing.

Review imported plans

Recognition requires Ember Pro access, AI consent and enough Ember Points. Each recognition uses 1 Point, including if you leave after starting. Cancelled plans are skipped; check the price, cycle and date after import.

View upcoming payments in the calendar

  1. Tap the calendar icon on Subscriptions & Bills. Choose Week or Month, use the arrows to move between periods and select a day. Service icons below a date identify upcoming or logged entries.
  2. Review Total paid and Total upcoming for the displayed period. Upcoming items open their details; logged periods open the date and amount editor.
