Inner Circle, circles & groups

Ember provides two distinct ways to organize your relationships: Circles and Groups.

Circles group contacts by emotional closeness (family, friends, work), while Groups are designed for tracking shared activities and logging meetings with multiple members.

Understand and manage your Inner Circle

  1. The ❤️ Inner Circle is the core ring of your 3-5 most important people, displayed at the top of your People home tab.
  2. To add a contact, edit their profile, find Circles, check ❤️ Inner Circle, and tap Save.
  3. You cannot delete the ❤️ Inner Circle. Its edit button lets you change its name, color and icon.

Understand and manage your Inner Circle

Ember reserves the Inner Circle specifically for your closest relationships to encourage frequent reachouts.

Create and manage custom CirclesPro feature

  1. Open Settings from Home or the More menu, then choose Circles.
  2. Tap the + (plus) icon in the top corner to create a new circle.
  3. Enter a name, then use Pick an icon to choose the circle symbol separately.
  4. Choose a color and tap Add Circle. When editing an existing circle, tap Save.
  5. Tap the trash icon on a custom-circle row and confirm. Contacts are removed from that circle but remain in Ember.

Enter a name, then use Pick an icon to choose the circle symbol separately.

Creating custom circles beyond the default ones is a Pro feature.

Create a new Group

  1. On the People tab, find the Groups section and tap New to open the creation form.
  2. Enter the group NAME (e.g. Poker Night or Work Team) and an optional DESCRIPTION.
  3. Choose a logo from icons, emoji or Upload photo, select members and tap Create Group. Use Cancel to close without creating a group.

Log a group meeting and attendance

  1. Open the Groups index and tap your group to view the details screen.
  2. Tap Interaction to open the log sheet (or Note to jot a quick note). Inside the sheet you can switch the type to Meeting, Call, or Text.
  3. Select the date/time in the When it happened field.
  4. For Meeting and Call, check the members who attended; everyone is selected initially.
  5. Write the note and tap Save. Text and Note logs include all current members; Meeting and Call show an attendance checklist.

Can I remove someone from the Inner Circle?

Yes. Simply edit their contact card, uncheck the "Inner Circle" box under Circles, and tap Save.
